Swiss Stone Pine
Swiss Stone Pine
Floor code: RARE006
In this mittel-European treasure, Swiss Stone Pine – also Arolla Pine or Zirbelkiefer – meets our artisans’ painstaking restoration and engineering skills…
ONCE USED IN CHARACTERISTIC ALPINE BUILDING
The story of our Pinus cembra began centuries – maybe millenia – ago in Europe’s inner Alpine regions. These woods, from trees known to live for up to 1200 years, survived the harshest ravages of Alpine winters – lightning strikes and snow breakage that leave character-giving features. Later, they were felled and used in characteristic Alpine building – in cosy panelled rooms – Zirbelstuben – where mountain folk whiled away winter nights amid delicious aromas of pine, bergkäse and Fendant wine.
ONLY AVAILABLE OCCASIONALLY, BUT WE FOUND YOU SOME
Very occasionally, small quantities of this authentically-weathered antique panelling become available. We snapped up this coveted wood and, featuring the panels’ outside faces, were inspired to craft stunning 20mm-thick, 250mm-wide and up-to-5,000mm-long 2-ply engineered planks with end-matched tongue-and-groove and hand-rolled edges. Then we added our Naked Skin Lacquer to keep its defining aesthetics while bestowing added durability.
Now it’s your turn to be inspired; let your imagination wander to new heights as you work Alpine magic on another special interior…
